Visiting The Wizarding World of Harry Potter

Expelliarmus! Alohomora! All my Harry Potter fans out there know what’s going on with those spells. As a hardcore HP fan, I was thrilled when I found out my parents and I were visiting The Wizarding World of Harry Potter. I’ve been to Universal Studios Orlando and Islands of Adventure numerous times, but not after this HP attraction was built.

This specific attraction is located in Islands of Adventures. Knowing my way around the park, I knew that Hogsmeade and Hogwarts were not near the front of the park. I caught my first glimpse of Hogwarts when we reached the lake in the center of the park. The peaks of the castle stick out above trees, exposing the mystery and excitement of what lurks inside.

As we walked at a quick pace to the back of the park, my anticipation grew. The crowd thickened and as I turned the corner I laid eyes on Hogsmeade. I felt like a little kid on Christmas! We started walking through and saw The Three Broomsticks, the Hogwarts Express and Ollivander’s Wand Shop. Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry looms over patrons and Hogsmeade. A force to be reckoned with, I was overwhelmed with more excitement. Rushing my parents in line, we awaited our turn to enter the castle.

Inside the castle you’re presented with replicas of what you’d expect to see in the movie: house points, Dumbledore’s office and the Defense Against the Dark Arts classroom. Oh, and don’t forget the talking paintings! There’s so much to take in that you wish you had the opportunity to take your time walking through. This just means you have to take a second trip through the line and enjoy the ride twice. Is that too horrible? I think not.

And yes, you heard right. There is a ride inside the castle. If you ever wanted to fly with Harry and friends, this is your chance!

So there you have it, friends. I’m a Harry Potter nerd who acts like a little girl when visiting this attraction. And mind you, I was 23 when I first visited the HP attraction. For anyone who has a love for Harry Potter or wants to experience something new in a theme park, I suggest going to Islands of Adventure and immerse yourself in the fun!

    1. I’m jealous of you!! I want to go to the tour in London SO BAD.

The WWoHP is amazing. It’s so much fun and the little touches are the best. I highly recommend going if you can. They’re currently extending it to include Diagon Alley, so I will have to go back. The excitement is too much!

    1. It’s scaled down in a sense. You can’t go into all the store fronts. Some are just for show. When walking through it, it’s life size. The buildings tower over you like any other building would!

Not all the shops are there, either. I’m excited to see what the expansion of Diagon Alley looks like! Hogsmeade is already impressive as is and now there’s going to be the dark side of Diagon Alley and new rides. Hooray!!!
